Facebook are pulling the plug on free advertising

well not quite, but certainly has reduced the effectiveness of Pages Reach from 16% to less than 2%.

For many businesses that is quite a hammering.

Facebook being Facebook have offered a solution of paid advertising to replace this lost traffic and now many experts are suggesting businesses flood LI groups to continue their free advertising fix.

I manage a number of LI groups and many are dead, a number of group owners will see this extra traffic as a boon, however, the challenge is this flood will look like a lot of spam.

I wonder how many other Group Owners and Managers are ready for this influx of unwanted traffic?

Separately, if you run a Facebook page, how will you counter this lost reach?

So what is your plan?

Social Media – a pain or a boon?

I enjoy social media, whether it is via LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, or any other of myriad of sites that have appeared over the last few years.

As luck would have it, I am an early adopter, and will often involve myself, probably too much, on these various websites.

The question that always arises: ‘Do you get any business from them?’

Yes, I do and often from the most unlikely source. My attitude is, if you don’t try, you don’t know, so I am happy to give each website a go, and see what happens – it is how I started blogging too.

Anyone involved in business, must adopt social media – it is not going to go away, so far better to be involved. Plan your activity, and ensure it does not take over your life. You still have to do business to make money and profit.

There are plenty of experts out there, but make sure you find a real hands on expert to help you  understand the power of social media.
